A committee of three from the REMC Board of Directors shall be appointed by the REMC Board President each year to select scholarship recipients. Children and grandchildren of the REMC Board and of REMC employees are not eligible to apply. Applications are available online at www.mcremc.coop.
At least $3000 in scholarship funds will be available for awarding to students. The committee typically meets in April. Recipients will be contacted only if selected.
The educational institution must be an accredited college, university or technical school. The scholarships are payable directly to the educational institution chosen by the recipient. Generally checks are mailed in the summer before the date of entry.
Recipients will be recognized at the Miami-Cass REMC Member Appreciation Day & Annual Meeting on September 15th.
Applications are due at the Miami-Cass REMC office no later than March 19, 2012.
Eligibility requirements to apply are:
- Be from a household served by Miami-Cass REMC (receive electricity from Miami-Cass REMC).
- Be a current senior in high school with aspirations for further education.
- Be able to demonstrate financial need.
- Be able to provide a current high school transcript of grades.
- Be able to provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor.
- Be able to provide a wallet size senior photo. (be sure NOT to crease if mailing)
- Be able to enroll at least part time at an accredited educational institution.
